About Me / My Studio
Kathryn first started composing and recording music in 1992 with just an Amiga, tracking software and a sampler with audio editing software.
Through until 2002 Kathryn created music modules for a variety of projects, some commercial, some public domain, freeware & personal projects.
The music varied from synthesised music to orchestral, even to more upbeat dance music.
Kathryn's real passion is for orchestral music, most notably of the movie score genre as well as various other ambient artists.
Of particular influence were Mike Oldfield, John Williams, Jerry Goldsmith, Vangelis and pianist Ludovico Einaudi.
After 2002 Kathryn moved on from the limitations of trackers and switches to sequencers and more traditional MIDI setups
along with audio recording. Kathryn currently plays keyboards and flute and is interested in also learning bass guitar.
She is also capable of reading and writing score as well as having taken short training courses on mixing and mastering in order to obtain good sounding mixes.
Kathryn has composed music for TV as well as for games and short run specialised ambient CD's for various
beauty salons.
As to regards with equipment, Kathryn prefers to work with a hybrid of analogue and digital equipment, with a bias towards
digital equipment, the benefits of DAW recording are immense. Provided decent AD converters are in place,
some analogue equipment can serve well in a mainly digital environment.
For home projects Kathryn uses a combination of internal and external sources and processing:
